TECNO's tri-fold concept smartphone is on display at MWC 2025

TECNO announced its tri-fold concept smartphone in August last year. That phone’s name is the TECNO Phantom Ultimate 2. It’s just a concept, but TECNO is now displaying that tri-fold concept at MWC 2025. It’s displayed behind glass, though, unfortunately.

TECNO has a tri-fold concept smartphone on display at MWC 2025

The company has it at its booth, over at Booth 6B11, Hall 6, Fira Gran Via. You can also see various other products there. The TECNO CAMON 40 series will be on display starting tomorrow, as will the TECNO AI Glasses. Both of those products are officially launching tomorrow.

The existing products are already on display there, though. So, you can see the MEGABOOK K15S and MEGABOOK T15 Air laptops, as well as the True 2 earbuds and TECNO Watch GT 1, for example.

That tri-fold concept sure caught our eye, though. Unfortunately, it’s just a concept, but it does look very nice, and it could be closer to reality than we think. The TECNO Phantom V Fold 2 device that we reviewed is a very compelling product.

TECNO surely has the expertise to make something like this a reality, so we do hope it will happen in the near future. Huawei sure does need some competition in the tri-fold space, as the Mate XT is the only tri-fold smartphone available to consumers.

The TECNO Phantom Ultimate 2 tri-fold has a 10-inch display

This concept phone is very thin and has a 6.48-inch display when completely folded. When unfolded, a 10-inch display appears. It has a very thin battery cover, and TECNO used “super compressed Titan Advanced Fiber material” in order to make that happen.

A couple of days ago, TECNO also talked about the TECNO Spark Slim. That device is looking to compete directly with the Galaxy S25 Edge in the super-slim smartphone department. Unfortunately, that phone is also just a concept for the time being.

All in all, TECNO has big plans for the future, and MWC 2025 attendees can also check out the updated Universal Tone Technology. The upgraded color card now features 372 patches and enhancements to the Multi-Skin Tone Color Restoration Engine. That allows for a more accurate representation of humanity’s diverse skin tones.

TECNO’s EVS Dynamic Snapshot and Tap Any Zoom Dual Prism Telephoto imaging technologies are also showcased at MWC 2025, in case you’re interested.
