Hyderabad: One of the primary objectives of Telangana government is to replace as many normal buses and autorickshaws with electric versions, Uttam Kumar Reddy said while unveiling a “Make in India” electric auto.
RAP ECO Motors, a subsidiary of ARD Group, launched L5 segment electric three-wheeler, E-Raja, in passenger and cargo variants. This roll out is supported by the Centre for Energy Studies at Administrative Staff College of India, which is working towards the scale up of Telangana Mobility Valley (TMV), spearheaded by the Industries and Commerce Department, Government of Telangana.
After launching the new three-wheeler in Hyderabad, Uttam Kumar Reddy, Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, Government of Telangana, mentioned about the challenges like lack of charging infrastructure, problems faced by EV manufacturers and actions needed to be undertaken by the Central and State governments.
“Be it Central or State government, we need to quickly facilitate the introduction of electric vehicles. On behalf of Government of Telangana, I would like to convey our keenness to push for electric vehicles, both electric autos and electric buses. We will extend our support to the manufacturers of such vehicles. Our Government’s intention is to replace as many normal buses and normal autorickshaws with e-buses and e-autos,” the minister added.
The minister invited electric vehicle manufacturers for understanding their challenges and acting on it by finding solutions, adding that the government will also request the Centre to do the needful and promote related Central schemes.
R Balakrishnan, CEO, RAP ECO Motors, Rajkiran Bilolikar, Professor and Director, Centre for Energy Studies, and Amartya Awasthi, Asst Professor, Centre for Energy Studies, Administrative Staff College of India, were present during the launch.
