Google releases the Android 15 QPR2 with features and tighter security

As part of the latest QPR (Quarterly Platform Release), Google made the software safer with the latest security patch.

The update fixes a decent 31 security issues. This update couldn’t come soon enough because they were all classified as either “High” severity or “Critical” severity. It’s available for the Pixel 9 series all the way back to the Pixel 6.

Notification cooldown

It’s an age-old problem; you’re trying to study and your phone just keeps going off. While it’s fun being popular, getting a bunch of notifications when you’re trying to focus can be annoying.

Well, the latest QPR comes with a neat feature called Notification Cooldown. When your phone detects that you’re getting a bunch of notifications in a short span of time, the phone will lower its volume. Along with that, it will reduce your notifications for up to two minutes so as to give you a breather.

Do Not Disturb

Instead of being its own option, Google lumped DND together with other functions like Flip to Shhh, Game Dashboard, Pixel Stand, and Bedtime as a “Mode”.

When you go to your settings, you’ll find a new Modes section that gives you the ability to create your own. When you create a mode, you’ll be able to choose from one of the aforementioned functions and customize them. You can even choose an icon and name for the mode.

Also, Do Not Disturb is now more customizable. You can set a schedule, choose which people to block, the apps you want to block, which alarms you want to mute, and your display settings. As for the display settings, you can choose to make the screen grayscale, dim the wallpaper, keep the screen dark, or enable dark mode.

Bluetooth page

A neat aesthetic feature comes to the Bluetooth Device details page. You’ll see battery rings around your devices as a way to see their percentages.

If you’re excited about this update, make sure that you check your settings. Go to the Software section and select the Update page. There, you’ll tap the button to search for the latest update. IF it’s available, then your phone will download and install it.
