The Apple Store Has Severance's Lumon Computer Listed on Its Website, but There's a Catch – CBR

This article contains spoilers for Severance Season 2, now streaming on Apple TV+.

Severance is already a huge hit for Apple TV+. The sci-fi thriller series starring Adam Scott just wrapped its second season, and Apple has been on a marketing tear since then. The latest effort by the tech company to promote Severance, is a new listing on its Apple Store website for a Lumon Terminal Pro computer, just like the severed workers in Lumon’s macrodata refinement department used.

However, apparently, the “numbers were (too) scary” to put a price on the piece of Lumon tech, because although the Lumon Terminal Pro is listed on its store site, it’s not actually available for purchase by fans.

Dan Erickson breaks down the second season of the hit Apple TV+ show.

“Praise Kier”

Per PetaPixel, the Lumon Terminal Pro from Apple is modeled after the computers used by workers on the severed floor with its large trackball and vintage look. If visitors to the Apple Store website click on the Lumon Terminal Pro, they are greeted with a picture of the computer with a message that reads: “Greetings. We are pleased to bring you a film detailing the art of arranging moving images to elicit an emotional response. If during this viewing you experience feelings of warmth, an increased heart rate, or perspiration, do not be alarmed. In fact, rejoice! As you have been successfully inspired. Praise Kier.”

The last line is an homage to Lumon founder Kier Eagan and the cult-like Eagan family in Severance. Visitors to the site are encouraged to watch a video on how Severance was edited on Mac products – but be warned – the film contains spoilers for Season 2 of the series.

How Long Will the Wait Be for Season 3?

The season finale of Severance debuted on March 21 and shortly after, Season 3 was confirmed by Apple TV+. The show’s creator, Dan Erickson, told Variety that he hopes the series’ third season won’t take as long to come out as Season 2. Nearly three years went by between the Season 1 finale and the Season 2 premiere.

“We’re hoping that there are no massive strikes or pandemics or fissures opening up in the crust of the Earth that end up delaying us,” Erickson said, referring to the 2023 writers’ and actors’ strikes. “But, Severance has always been a show that takes a long time to make, and we’re proud of what we came up with, even though it took quite a long time,” he added.

Dan Erickson reveals a Star Trek and Severance connection.

A “Different Tone” for the Third Installment

Ben Stiller, executive producer and director of Severance, added that the final scene of the finale sets the tone of what viewers may expect for Season 3. “(The final frame) felt like a movie that would’ve been shot on film…and it goes to red, which we haven’t really gone to before. I think it’s kind of signaling, ‘Hey, we’re going into a different tone now. We are going into a different reality for these people,” Stiller told IndieWire.

The final scene of the finale showed Innie Mark (Adam Scott) running off with Helly (Britt Lower) and faded to red, with even the end credits running in red.
