The Future Of Motoring? Meet The Firm Striving For A Classic Electric World – Forbes

As we edge closer to various different deadlines and legislation surrounding electric vehicles, petrolheads among you might be feeling a sense of despair. The days of quirky sports cars and beautifully ornate designs seem long gone but Everrati is determined to combine a passion for cars with a passion for the environment to create the ultimate luxury electric cars.

Tucked away in an old Royal Air Force (RAF) base fire station, the team spends its days reengineering existing classics into fully-electric cars. Using a donor vehicle with an engine, the company has developed four specific solutions for the Porsche 911, Land Rover Series IIA, Mercedes-Benz W113 SL ‘Pagoda’ and Ford GT40.

Justin Lunny, Co-Founder and CEO of Everrati said: “I have always loved cars and when I sold my last business in around 2017, I started thinking about what I could do next. At the time, my daughter was seven or eight and started worrying about the Earth flooding, climate change and sustainability. We used to live right opposite Windsor Castle, so we saw Harry and Meghan drive away from Windsor Castle in the electric Jaguar E‑type Zero that was built by Jaguar Classic and Rimac, so that was the inspiration.”

Six years on, Everrati has developed unique platforms to seamlessly electrify classic cars. The British firm has a presence in mainland Europe, America, the Middle East and Hong Kong through its own locations and partner dealers.

To maintain the classic status of the vehicle, Everrati uses existing cars to electrify. Depending on the country the car will be used in, the team can customize the build accordingly to meet local regulatory requirements. As well as the powertrain, Everrati can sympathetically introduce modern features to make the car usable as an everyday vehicle.

Speaking about the company’s typical customers, Lunny said: “The clients we build cars for are climate aware. They are people that could technically have anything but have chosen to do something with an iconic shape. One example is Matt Rogers, the founder of Nest. His view is that nobody should be driving gas cars anymore. I think none of our existing clients have owned a combustion version of the car we created for them.”

Alongside its core customer offering, looking at electrifying four key models, the company offers bespoke electrification development and ‘Powered by Everrati’ solutions to accelerate the development of EV powertrains for new and existing vehicles.

Lunny explained: “Powered by Everrati is very much the B2B offering, either for companies in our space. So, it may be a restomod or an electromod that they want to create using an existing chassis. Or, more likely, either a low volume or niche OEM that wants to go into the EV space but has no experience whatsoever. People assume it’s easy and it really isn’t.”

Using components from leading automotive suppliers with the backing of engineers that have worked at some of the most prestigious car manufacturers and automotive companies in the business, Everrati is strategically positioned to offer complete electrification solutions.

The company has developed its own vehicle control architecture to manage every aspect of the electric drive system which facilitates more than 500 different powertrain variants to suit the application. The goal is to expand this side of the business to deliver more luxury electric cars across the industry.
