Samsung fans often say that the company isn’t moving fast enough to make new improvements to its smartphones. In recent years, Samsung has maintained a conservative and continuous line in its devices. Each new generation of Galaxy flagship phones usually includes the expected incremental improvements but without revolutionizing things. Sadly, it looks like the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7 won’t make any big changes either.
It seems that Samsung has decided that 2025 is not yet the year to impress with specs or features in its foldable devices. The company is quite comfortable slowly improving aspects, such as chip power and camera quality—via software—while working on new Galaxy AI features. Leaks about the Galaxy S25 series say that people who own Galaxy S24 models won’t be that impressed. Something similar could happen with the firm’s next-gen foldables.
Samsung will not bring major changes to the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7, report claims
In an interview with the South Korean outlet The Elec, a Fastprint executive shared his thoughts about Samsung’s upcoming flagship phones. Fastprint is one of the third-party companies that supply components to the South Korean giant. More specifically, Samsung sources High-Density Interconnect (HDI) circuit boards from them.
That said, the Fastprint executive claimed that there probably won’t be any major changes in the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Fold 7 that are coming this year. Component suppliers usually have key information that other people can’t access. So, the executive’s word has high credibility. Plus, Samsung’s recent track record goes along those lines.
We might finally see some big changes to the Galaxy Z Flip 8 and Z Fold 8’s hardware in 2026, though. That means that if you want to buy a Samsung foldable phone, you might want to wait until next year. The executive also said that Samsung thinks the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 will sell about seven million units together. These projections are low-key, so the firm doesn’t expect a big impact on the market.
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 could have a bigger display and the Exynos 2500 chip
Recently, a Samsung executive confirmed that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip FE will use the Exynos 2500 chip. However, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 wasn’t mentioned, so it’s possible that Samsung will use the Snapdragon 8 Elite in its most expensive foldable. The company could also integrate a larger foldable screen in the Z Flip 7, while the affordable Z Flip FE could use the same screen as the current Z Flip 6.
