The Huawei Mate XT 2 could use a Kirin 9020 processor

Earlier in September, Huawei launched the Mate XT flagship smartphone. The phone arrived as the world’s first tri-fold phone. The company also refers to it as the Huawei Mate XT Ultimate Design. Notably, the company has already started working on the Mate XT’s successor. There are many details available about the device officially; however, a new leak has revealed the processor of the upcoming Huawei Mate XT 2 tri-fold smartphone.

A more powerful Kirin SoC will power the Huawei Mate XT 2 compared to its predecessor

A Kirin 9010 processor powers Huawei’s first tri-fold smartphone, the Mate XT. However, the phone’s successor, the Huawei Mate XT 2, could utilize the latest Kirin 9020 processor, according to a leak on Weibo. Notably, the Kirin 9020 SoC already powers the company’s Mate 70 series of smartphones, which are quite powerful devices. So we can also expect the Mate XT 2 to deliver better performance than its predecessor.

The Kirin 9020 SoC offers a more powerful GPU and more energy efficiency

Notably, the Kirin 9020 chipset flaunts an advanced Maleoon 920 GPU, which provides better rendering and gaming performance than the Kirin 9010. The latest chip also claims to provide 40 percent higher performance and 20 percent better energy efficiency. It has two cores clocked at 2.5GHz, six cores clocked at 2.15GHz, and four cores with a clock speed of 1.6GHz.

In comparison, the Kirin 9010 packs two 2.3GHz cores, six 2.18GHz cores, and four 1.55GHz cores. Notably, the Kirin 9020 SoC’s smaller cores are 50 percent more efficient than the ones on the Kirin 9010. Furthermore, the Kirin 9020 also flaunts the industry’s first 3GPP R18 5G-A SoC.

Notably, if the leak is true, then we can be certain that the Huawei Mate XT 2 will provide much better performance than its predecessor. The phone could offer the Mate 70’s multi-spectral sensor. It will offer accurate color restoration and brighter shots even in low-light conditions.

Unfortunately, no other details about the phone are available at the moment. We will update you once we know more.
