The Marantz Horizon is basically a work of art that makes sound

Speakers come in the traditional boxy design, but you’re not looking for that. You want speakers that can impress your friends when you have them over. If this sounds like you, then you might be in the market for the newest speaker from Marantz. The newly launched Marantz Horizon and Grand Horizon speakers are two speakers that look just as beautiful as they sound.

Marantz has been making top-of-the-line audio equipment for quite some time, with a long 50-year lineage. It sells devices like amplifiers, turntables, speakers, CD players, sound systems, and much more. It’s a premium brand with many of its devices appealing to the upper-tier side of the spectrum. Its devices are pricey, but well worth the cost if you want to have some of the best audio on the market.

Marantz launches its new Horizon and Grand Horizon speakers

Marantz is launching two speakers, the Horizon and the larger Grand Horizon. The former has a diameter of 14.33 inches (36.4cm) and the latter has a diameter of 19.41 inches (49.3cm). This is not including the base.

Coming in at $3,500 (£3,250/€3,800), the Horizon is targeted at the luxury speaker market. The larger Grand Horizon comes in at a heavier $5,500 (£5,250/€6,000.) There’s also a tripod stand that costs a steep $700 (£650/€750).

If these prices are too high for you, don’t worry. You have plenty of time to save up, as these speakers won’t be available until January 14th.

Beautiful design

These are two speakers with an equal emphasis on looks and sound quality. They have a simple, yet elegant, pebble-shaped design. On the front of the speakers, there’s a circular section that has the Marantz branding on it. We see a ring around that section with a color contrasting the speaker mesh.

Speaking of the speaker mesh, it extends all the way to the back of the device, making for a buttonless appearance. The overall look of the speaker is rather minimalist, and it will fit in with pretty much any decor.

The Marantz Horizon sits on top of a slab of pure marble. The marble has been smoothed down to give it a glossy appearance. This adds so much to the overall aesthetic.

The Marantz Horizon speakers come in three colors. There’s Midnight Sky which has a black body and base, Moon Ray which has a light gray body and base, and Marantz Champagne which has a beige body and base. All three of these colors have the same yellow accent on the front.

Lights

Sometimes, a good set of lights can really make a speaker stand out. The Marantz Horizon has a proximity sensor that will sense when you get close to it. When it detects you, it will light up. The speaker has a set of 100 LEDs that will light up and “create a seamless symphony of light and sound.” As if this speaker couldn’t get any more aesthetically pleasing.

Amazing sound

The Marantz Horizon uses a set of drivers that produce the sound, and they’re arranged so that you can hear the audio clearly no matter where you’re standing in relation to the speaker. These are the company’s in-house Gravity Drivers. They’re custom-tuned neodymium magnet drivers that deliver powerful and distortion-free audio.

In all, there are six drivers in the base model, and they include three 5cm full-range drivers, two 25mm silk-dome tweeters, and a large 16.5cm subwoofer. The subwoofer is the centerpiece of the drivers, and the others are arranged in a star pattern around it.

The Grand Horizon has a few more drivers than the base model, and some of them are a bit bigger. This one has three tweeters instead of two, and they’re the same 25cm. There are four midrange drivers instead of three, and they’re 52% larger at 7.6cm. Lastly, the subwoofer is 21% larger at 20cm.

What does this all equate to? Well, the Horizon can produce up to 310W of power while the Grand Horizon can produce up to 370W of power. This means that both of these speakers can fill an entire room with sound. So, whether you’re enjoying some casual music listening or hosting a party, you won’t have any issues hearing these speakers. You’ll hear a full sound throughout your room.

High-quality audio

The audio you’re listening to won’t only be full, but it will sound amazing. These drivers are made from top-shelf materials, and they’re capable of producing an engrossing sound. Both of these speakers can play music at up to 24-bit/192kHz, which is pretty standard for professional-grade audio. This means that you’ll be able to listen to hi-res audio. The Marantz Horizon speakers are compatible with Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, DSD Dolby Digital+, Dolby Digital, and LPCM decoding.

So, no matter what you’re listening to, everything will sound absolutely amazing.

Audio input

The Marantz Horizon speakers support different forms of audio input, and you can use them both wired and wirelessly. So, you’ll be able to use them with most setups. When it comes to wired audio inputs, these speakers support RCA, Optical, USB, and HDMI (eARC and ARC) inputs. This goes for both of the speakers, so you won’t be missing out when opting for the more affordable model.

Moving on to wireless, you can use Bluetooth and Apple AirPlay 2. Using wireless communication, you won’t get as high-quality of a sound, but the amazing drivers will still make everything sound amazing.

Not only that, but through integration with HEOS technology, you can turn two of these speakers into a stereo system with each speaker playing one of the channels. This is for people who want a truly stereo experience. Additionally, you can use these as a multi-room system. This makes this an extremely versatile speaker.

Streaming services

The Marantz Horizon speakers directly integrate with some of the best streaming services on the market. You can connect to Amazon Music, Spotify, Deezer, and Tidal. Amazon and Tidal both stream hi-res audio, so you’ll be able to truly utilize the drivers to their full potential.
