The OnePlus made the most confusing decision with the OnePlus Watch 3!

OnePlus is a company that’s made both great decisions and terrible decisions over the years. This is natural for any company, but OnePlus really took the cake with this one. According to a new report, The OnePlus Watch 3 will get shorter software support than the OnePlus Watch 2.

In case you don’t know, OnePlus launched its third-generation smartwatch, and people lauded it as the best on the market. Aside from being a beautiful device, the watch is powerful, stable, and fully-featured. Not only that, but it has some of the best battery life of any smartwatch on the market.

What also makes it notable is the type in the engraving text. It seems that OnePlus “meda” mistake when it engraved the watch. Be that as it may, the error isn’t as frustrating as the latest bit of news to come out about this watch.

The OnePlus Watch 3 will have shorter software support than its predecessor

Software support is one of the most important aspects of any device. You want to get all of the latest features and make sure that your device is safe from hackers. So, paying for a device with short software support isn’t quite ideal.

The OnePlus Watch 2 launched with Wear OS 4, and it comes with three years of software support. So, it’s used up 1/3 of its support so far. As time goes on, you’d expect a company to increase the software support of its devices.

However, OnePlus decided to go in the opposite direction. According to a new report, the OnePlus Watch 3 only has two years of software support. That’s pretty odd and infuriating to see. For starters, two years is a pretty pathetic number for a device as pricey as the OnePlus Watch 3. It’s not exactly as expensive as the Pixel Watch 3, but it still costs a pretty penny.

Secondly, this means that it will run out of support roughly around the same time as the OnePlus Watch 2. What’s the point of upgrading to a new device if you don’t get the benefit of added support?

OnePlus hasn’t commented on this just yet. This means that there might have been a miscommunication at some point down the line. So, there’s a chance that the company didn’t make this decision. Let’s hope that isn’t the case.

More bad news regarding OnePlus Watch updates

Let’s turn our attention to the OnePlus Watch 2. This device launched with Wear OS 4, and users are waiting for it to hop onto Wear OS 5. Well, if you’re waiting for this update, you’re going to be waiting a bit longer.

Wear OS 5 won’t drop on this watch until Q3 2025. This means that it won’t land until between July and September this year. We’re not sure why the update will take so long. Hopefully, OnePlus will give us some insight as to why it’s making these decisions.
