October is set to be chockfull of flagship smartphone launches and the release of the Vivo X200 series marks the very first of them. The series has launched with the Vivo X200, the Vivo X200 Pro, and the smaller but very powerful Vivo X200 Mini.
At the moment, these devices are currently only available in china, but we’re going to hope for a global launch some time soon. In the meantime, let’s talk about what these exceptional devices are able to deliver to the palm of your hand.
The Vivo X200 Might Be The Vanilla Model, But It Is Far From Plain
If you’re a power user, you likely always gravitate towards the “Pro” or “Ultra” models in a lineup, but with the Vivo X200, you get such a stacked spec sheet that you might not even need to look at the higher-priced devices. It’s only 7.99mm thick, plus, it is now IP69 certified. Very impressive.
The device maintains the same general appearance as its predecessor, which means it still looks amazing. You get a 6.67-inch “quad-curved” 120Hz 1260p display with 4,500-nit peak brightness. The panel itself is said to last much longer than other AMOLED units and it should draw less power. Inside the device is the 3nm MediaTek Dimensity 9400, a killer chip, and you can set it up with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
One of my favorite things about the phone though, is the massive 5,800 mAh cell. That’s a whole 800 mAh difference, despite its predecessor being physically larger. The wired charging is still fast at 90W, but that’s slower than last year’s 120W. Plus, these phones are launching with Android 15, which should make them the first coming with the new OS out of the box, if I’m not mistaken.
Then of course, the cameras. The Vivo X200 doesn’t play nice in that department either. You get a 50MP Sony sensor as your primary shooter (one area where the Pro models are a bit more aggressive) and by its side you get a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 3x periscope telephoto unit. On the front is a 32MP selfie camera.
You can get the Vivo X200 in Sapphire Blue, Titanium Grey, Moonlight White, and Carbon Black colorways. The Sapphire Blue option is definitely a looker. The device will start at CNY4,700 (which comes to $605 when converted). If the device comes to international markets and is anything under $800, it’ll certainly make for a good buy.
The Vivo X200 Pro And X200 Pro Mini Amp Up The Displays And Bring Wireless Charging
Compared to the regular Vivo X200, the Vivo X200 Pro and Pro Mini bring just enough to justify their existences. You get a very similar design and the same IP69-certified build, but past their looks, there is a lot that is different.
For instance, the Vivo X200 Pro has a larger 6.78-inch screen while the Pro Mini goes for a 6.31-inch display; that’s larger than I’d have expected from a “Mini” device, so compact phone enthusiasts will need to crawl back into their holes. The major difference though, is that these screens have LTPO tech while the X200 doesn’t.
You still get Android 15 and the Dimensity 9400 to run the show. Both phones also max out in a 16GB/1TB configuration, which should make everyone happy. The Vivo X200 Pro Mini uses a triple 50MP camera setup like the X200, but it has a better sensor for the primary shooter. The X200 Pro replaces the Mini’s telephoto with a 3.7x 200MP macro-telephoto camera. Considering how good last year’s was, it is easy to expect a win here.
The Pro models are able to afford 30W wireless charging for themselves and they come with equally large batteries. Despite the relatively compact design of the Pro Mini, Vivo has managed to fit a 5,700 mAh battery in it. That’s pretty crazy. Meanwhile, the regular X200 cracks the threshold with a 6,000 mAh battery.
The X200 Pro comes in the same colorways as the Vivo X200 and will start at CNY5,299, which comes to about $748 when converted. Obviously, it won’t be this cheap once a global release is around the corner, but that’s a very competitive conversion. Meanwhile, the X200 Pro Mini has more fun colors: Titanium Green, Light Pink, Simple Black, and Plain White. It’ll start at CNY4,699 (~$663).
