Sony is a go-to brand for consumer audio devices, and they’re pretty popular. Along with its more premium offerings, the company has more affordable devices. In 2023, it launched the WF-C700N, and they had some pretty big drawbacks. Well, Sony just announced the WF-C710N, and these aim to make up for the drawbacks that were present in their predecessors.
Coming in at $119.99, the WF-C700N were on the more affordable side of the premium earbuds spectrum, but they disappointed in some areas. The battery life was pretty bad with only 15 hours of combined battery life. Reviewers also dinged the earbuds because of their pretty weak noise cancelation.
The new Sony WF-C710N address some of the issues with their predecessors
These new earbuds come in four different colors: Black, White, Pink, and Transparent Blue. That last one will remind you of a device from the early 2000s. If you’re interested in getting a pair, just know that they’re only for pre-order now. Fortunately, the price stayed the same at $119.99.
So, what about the Sony WF-C710N make them worth the money? For starters, they solve some of the issues present in the WF-C700N. Sony doubled the battery life of its 2023’s earbuds, and this is a welcomed change. Without the charging case (and with NFC on), you’re looking at about 8.5 hours of battery life. In all, you can expect about 30 hours of battery life with ANC on and 40 hours with it off. You can also get upto an hour of battery life on a quick five-minute charge.
Along with that, Sony mentions that it improved the ANC with these earbuds. The ANC was pretty underpowered compared to other earbuds. This is pretty surprising, as earbuds as cheap as the $80 OnePlus Nord Buds 3 came with ANC on par with premium headphones. It’ll be exciting to hear how the company improved the ANC in the WF-C710N.
Another major change sees the addition of touch controls on the earbuds. Their predecessors used physical buttons for controls. This is for better or worse, as both physical and capacitive buttons have their benefits and drawbacks. It seems that Sony brought some major changes to these earbuds, and we’re excited to see how they stack up.
