Dbrand has always been a company that likes to push boundaries and today it’s doing just that with a leaked image of the Nintendo Switch 2 design. We imagine this won’t make Nintendo very happy as Nintendo tends to be a company that is very protective of its IP and hardware. A point that is pretty evident given its current lawsuit against Palworld studio Pocket Pair. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a leaked design of the Nintendo Switch 2.
It previously popped up in leaked 3D CAD renders earlier this year, and more recently was accidentally leaked by accessory company Satisfye. It popped up yet again from a completely different case company, which said they had specs that allowed them to 3D print a mockup.
While the mockup is probably the best look at the Switch 2 overall, Dbrand’s leaked Nintendo Switch 2 design shows the console off with the classic red and blue Joy-Con controller colors. That being said, it’s not a clear look at the design, given that everything is shown behind a smokey transparent case cover.
Dbrand shows the leaked Nintendo Switch 2 design through the Killswitch case
Dbrand’s Killswitch was initially launched for the Steam Deck. The company has since launched versions for other handhelds like the ASUS ROG Ally X. Now it’s making one for the Nintendo Switch 2. Spotted by Insider Gaming, the company has confirmed to the gaming publication that this is the design of Nintendo’s next console.
You get a good look at the Switch 2 Killswitch, and a nice look at the console underneath the cover. Unlike past Killswitch cases, the cover isn’t a solid matte black. Instead, it’s a slightly seethrough smoke color. This is what makes it possible to see what the console looks like, even if only partially.
Still, it’s clear that this is a Nintendo console. The telltale “+” button and the little sensor for the Amiibos are both visible. Then there’s the red and blue Joy-Con controller mentioned earlier. Dbrand also gives a good look at the back of the case. It shows off the kickstand that all other Killswitch cases are adorned with.
The case doesn’t have a release date yet
Dbrand might be fine with confirming this is what the Nintendo Switch 2 looks like. However, it’s not saying anything just yet on the release date of the Switch 2 Killswitch. The case is presumably coming sometime around the launch of the console though. That being said, there are already rumors about when the console will launch as well. The most recent suggests it’s coming in June.
And based on the leaked design from Satisfye earlier this week, that seems to be highly likely. As Satisfye’s Zen Grip 2 has an anticipated launch date of Spring 2025.
