As its name suggests, the Galaxy Z Flip FE aims to be a more affordable model in the clamshell-like Z Flip lineup. The device would bring foldable phones’ pricing even closer to that of traditional smartphones. The company hopes this move will increase public enthusiasm for foldable devices. While these products are becoming more common, they remain a limited niche. High prices have a lot to do with this situation, so Samsung will try to address the problem.
Galaxy Z Flip FE tipped to be powered by the Exynos 2400e chip
Several leaks related to the phone have emerged recently. However, there have been conflicting reports about its chipset. This appears to be primarily due to the Samsung Foundry issues. Last year, a Samsung executive confirmed the company’s intentions to use the 3nm Exynos 2500 chip in both the Galaxy Z Flip 7 and the “FE” variant.
However, a recent report revealed that the current yield rate from Samsung’s 3nm factories would still be insufficient. The company could produce only around 5,000 units of the Exynos 2500 chip per month. It was thought that the company couldn’t use the chip in the Galaxy Z Flip 7, but it could in the cheaper FE variant. Now, the latest report from Galaxy Club claims that the Galaxy Z Flip FE will use the 4nm Exynos 2400e SoC.
If you’re not aware, the Exynos 2400e is the silicon of the Galaxy S24 FE. It’s a slightly downgraded version of the Exynos 2400 with slightly lower CPU speeds. The chip proved to perform well in the S24 FE, though.
If the leak is true, Samsung would have already seen that its factories couldn’t produce enough Exynos 2500 chips. Therefore, they would resort to still-solvent but older-generation hardware. It’s noteworthy that the report mentions the international variant of the model (SM-F761B). It’s possible that Samsung will ship the headset with a different chip to some regions, as it has done previously with the Snapdragon versions.
Cameras inherited from the Galaxy Z Flip 5
The post also talks about the cameras of the Galaxy Z Flip FE. According to the report, the smartphone will have the same sensors as the Galaxy Z Flip 5. In other words, it could be equipped with 12 MP (main) + 12 MP (ultrawide) + 10 MP (telephoto) rear cameras. Lastly, rumors suggest that the Z Flip FE will also feature the Z Flip 5’s 10 MP front-facing camera.
