Threads has announced that it now has 100 million daily active users. That is yet another milestone for the social media network, following stellar growth since its launch in July 2023.
Threads now has 100 million daily active users
The news has been announced by Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg and head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri. In addition to announcing that 100 million daily active users are on the platform, he said that Threads also has 300 million monthly active users. Back in November, that number was 275 million.
This is actually the very first time that Threads shares its daily active users stats. The company has been constantly updating us with monthly active user numbers, but not with the daily active users situation.
The latest growth spurt could be caused by people leaving X, as quite a few of them have decided to switch to other networks. That caused considerable growth of Bluesky too, actually.
Bluesky sits at over 25 million users, nowhere near X or Threads
Bluesky now counts over 25 million users (up from 24 million from earlier this month), so it’s nowhere near Threads just yet, but that’s perfectly normal. Earlier this month, X had around 611 million users, which is above and beyond both Threads and Bluesky.
That is not surprising at all, though, as X is a much older social media network. As you probably already know, it was known as Twitter before Elon Musk bought the company and changed the branding entirely.
It remains to be seen whether the growth of Threads and Bluesky will continue. The latest X exodus is probably caused by Elon Musk’s political moves and some other reasons. It remains to be seen if it will make a dent in X’s user numbers.
Either way, both Threads and Bluesky benefited from it, and are still benefiting from it. They have a long way to go if they’re planning to catch up to X, though.
