Three people — including two children — were mowed down and killed after two cars crashed on a Brooklyn street and apparently careened into pedestrians.
The incident happened just after 1 p.m. on Ocean Parkway close to Quentin Road in Gravesend when a Toyota Camry and an Audi collided, authorities said.
“It’s pretty bad,” one police source said.
Photos of the aftermath showed one victim’s legs and bare feet sticking out from one of destroyed, overturned vehicles, as first responders worked nearby.
Paramedics could be seen treating a child, whose arm was in a sling, inside an ambulance.
Children’s shoes were strewn about the pavement, as onlookers crowded around the destroyed vehicles and emergency personnel worked to assess the scene.
The horrifying incident unfolded on a gorgeous Saturday with summer-like temperatures, as families in the heavily Orthodox Jewish neighborhood emerged from synagogue.
“The bang I heard, it was like an earthquake,” one Ocean Parkway resident said. “It went on for a good 30 seconds. It felt like the world stopped for that second.”The man, who rushed to the crashed cars and called 911, said the neighborhood was packed with people, “like Manhattan on Christmas,” before the deadly collision.
“It is a shock,” he said. “I think everyone that was witnessing this, I mean, at like 1 o’clock in the afternoon, everyone’s coming home from synagogue, everyone’s going to places. The streets are full with pedestrians.”
The two children were pronounced dead at Maimonides Medical Center, while a third child was in critical condition.
Those killed were pedestrians, cops said.
The Camry was an Uber, a police source said. Its three passengers — two children and an adult — were taken to Kings County Hospital in stable condition.
The driver of the Audi – which flipped upside-down and was crushed, with airbags deployed – was injured but was expected to survive.
Police had the area surrounding the wreckage blocked off with yellow tape.
