Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has sent a letter to the MTA and Gov. Kathy Hochul imposing a May 21 deadline to end congestion pricing.
The letter states that Washington could pull billions in federal funding from New York if it doesn’t comply.
The Trump administration originally announced April 20 as the deadline, but it was later extended.
Gov. Hochul and the MTA have said repeatedly that they will not turn off the cameras without a court order.
The MTA released a statement responding to the new deadline.
It read in part, “we are evaluating our legal options, given that the legal issues raised in the letter are already appropriately before a federal judge. In the meantime, cameras are staying on.
