The Fat Cats will perform at 2nd Street Stage from 6 to 8 p.m. in downtown Park Rapids. Social hour starts at 5 p.m. and remember to bring your own chair.

Park Rapids area Fourth of July events include the Firecracker Footrace, starting at 9 a.m. in Heartland Park; the Big Sand Lake flotilla starting at 11 a.m.; the downtown Park Rapids parade starting at 11 a.m.; the Duck Lake flotilla starting at noon; the Fish Hook Lake and River flotilla starting at 2 p.m.; the Long Lake flotilla starting at 4 p.m.; and fireworks over Fish Hook Lake at dusk.

The Park Rapids Area Community Band will perform a summer concert at 7:30 p.m. at Heartland Park in Park Rapids. For more information, visit pracb.com.

The sixth annual parking lot party will be held, free of charge, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Park Rapids Area Library. Celebrate libraries and reading with fun, crafts, games and snacks.

Sounds of Spirit Lake presents The Good Time Gals from 7 to 9 p.m. on the shore of Spirit Lake in Menahga. Rain venue is the Menahga School. The free community event is supported by donations. For more information, visit soundsofspiritlake.com.

Fireworks will fly over Lake Belle Taine at dusk.

Laporte Independence Days activities include a 5K walk/run starting at 8 a.m. at the Laporte park shelter; a craft and flea market downtown from 8 a.m.; well water nitrate testing from 9 a.m. to noon at the park shelter; boom truck rides from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; a car show from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Laporte School; a fine art show from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church; a cornhole tournament starting at noon at the Popple Bar & Grill; a bouncy house from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Door CoffeeHouse; a hair bling studio from 2 to 4 p.m. at Halo Salon; a kids’ carnival from 2 to 4 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran; a kids’ soap box derby at 5 p.m. (sign up at 4:30 p.m. at Laporte Community Bible Church); live music by Paradigm, starting at 6 p.m.; a parade at 7:30 p.m. and fireworks at 10 p.m.

Laporte Independence Days continue with the Lions’ pancake breakfast, 8 to 10 a.m. at Laporte Community Bible Church for a freewill donation, and the Lakeport Fire Department open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Nemeth Art Center opens exhibits of Madeleine Bialke’s paintings and Wayne Gudmondson’s photography, running through Sept. 30.

Hubbard County DFL members are invited to their monthly meeting, with discussion of trending topics at 6 p.m. in the Park Rapids Area Library basement meeting room and a business meeting at 7 p.m. Contact hubbardcountydfl@gmail.com for information.

Hubbard County Republicans meet at 7 p.m. at Abide Vineyard Church, 17765 State Hwy. 34, east of Park Rapids. Social hour begins at 6:30 p.m.

Children aged 8-18 explore and create at the Park Rapids Area Library, 11 a.m. on the lower level. For this week’s free activity, we’ll make upcycled greeting cards. Younger children may participate with the help of an adult or older sibling.
