WHITNEY POINT (WBNG) — A box truck almost struck a New York State Department of Transportation worker near Whitney Point.
The NYS Department of Transportation posted a video on its Facebook page on Thursday of the box truck sideswiping a DOT vehicle on I-81. The worker gets out of the way just in time.
The box truck pushed the DOT vehicle into a ditch and debris flew onto the highway.
“Our highway workers put their lives on the line every day to keep NY roads safe,” the DOT said. “This recent work zone crash on I-81 near Whitney Point is a frightening reminder of the dangers they face.”
No injuries were reported in the incident.
The DOT called the crash avoidable and said drivers need to stay alert in work zones to save lives.
