Wake County chase involving stolen car, weapon ends in SUV crash in front yard – WRAL News

The driver of a stolen SUV crashed and overturned onto the front yard of a home Saturday night in Wake County, ending a chase that involved multiple vehicles and a stolen weapon.

It all stemmed from neighbors in a Holly Springs neighborhood alerting authorities about suspects attempting to break into cars.

Holly Springs police learned of several people attempting to
break into cars around 2 a.m. in the Woodcreek subdivision. Sometime later,
officers got a call about similar activity in the Newbury Park neighborhood
involving a suspect vehicle. Police discovered an Audi sedan and BMW SUV that
matched the caller’s description and a chase ensued.

Stop sticks were deployed on the Audi, causing the tires to deflate. Those inside the
Audi quickly got out of the car at the intersection of Sunset Lake Road and
Wescott Ridge Road and entered the BMW SUV, which continued down Sunset Lake
Road into Fuquay-Varina.

The driver of the BMW eventually crashed, flipping onto the front yard of a home around Sunset Lake Road and Whitted Road in Fuquay-Varina.

Officers learned that the Audi sedan had been stolen from
Apex earlier in the week. Ammunition and a firearm magazine also were found in
the Audi. A stolen firearm was found in the BMW. Other stolen property was
linked to vehicles in the Woodcreek subdivision.

Two juveniles and one adult traveling inside the BMW were
taken to the hospital. Their injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The adult will be taken to Wake County Detention Center upon release from the
hospital. The Department of Juvenile Justice has been contacted and is
determining the process for the juveniles involved.

Fuquay-Varina police and fire/rescue, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office and emergency medical service, and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol all responded.
