Weekend Break: Lincoln Square Ravenswood Apple Fest – Yahoo Life

CHICAGO — The Lincoln Square-Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce (LSRCOC) hosted Apple Fest this weekend, and WGN’s Christine Flores gives us a look at an event that’s a bit more than just apples on this edition of Weekend Break.

“It is our 37th year here in Lincoln Square. It has expanded from one block to over five blocks, nearly a half a mile long,” said Rudy Flores, CEO of the LSRCOC.

Lincoln Square’s Apple Fest has more apples than ever with more than 75 vendors from in and around the Chicagoland area and the Great Lakes region.

One of those vendors is Mick Klug farms from Southwest Michigan. They’ve been a part of Apple Fest for more than 20 years.

“We have apple cider horchata, we have apple cider jelly. All things apple cider,” said Abby Schilling, owner of Mick Klug Farms. “We’ve seen it grow and get bigger and better each year. So, we’re so grateful to have been a part of this festival for so long.”

Alongside all the apple activities, there’s also plenty of room for furry, four-legged friends.

“We have a 20-foot by 40-foot turf,” said Ed Kaczmarek, co-founder of Urban Pooch. “We have enrichment equipment, we have a pooch pool. And it just gives parents and their dogs a rest from the crowd of people.”

The weekend-long festival runs through 6 p.m. Sunday.
