After almost 25 years, Ridley Scott returns to the world of swords, sandals and bloody arena deaths. For a long time, Gladiator from 2000 was considered the most incredible modern tale about the ancient world (despite many historical inaccuracies). It was also one of Scott’s most spectacular films that secured five Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor awards.
It looks like the British director is ready to surpass his own achievement – what we can tell from the trailers, Gladiator 2 has even more panache than its predecessor.
In addition to the impressive set design and full-blown battle scenes, the film catches the eye with its star-studded cast. The lead role, Lucius, Lucilla’s now-grown-up son, is played by Paul Mescal, known for his performance in Normal People and Aftersun. The film also features Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian), Denzel Washington (The Tragedy of Macbeth), Connie Nielsen (Wonder Woman 1984), Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things), Derek Jacobi (Tomb Raider) and Fred Hechinger (The White Lotus).

How to watch Gladiator 2 now
The new Ridley Scotts film will premiere in the UK on Friday, 15 November 2024. However, US-based viewers will have to wait a week longer – in the States, Gladiator will debut on Friday, 22 November 2024.

When will Gladiator 2 be released on VOD?
Currently, there’s no information on when Ridley Scott’s film can appear on digital. However, we can estimate the potential date based on the releases of other Paramount Pictures movies.
A lot will depend on how Gladiator 2 does at the box office. Although the film market has become highly uncertain in recent years, and many films that were supposed to be box-office hits have failed (e.g. Joker: Folie à deux or Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga), Gladiator has a good chance of becoming a smash hit.
Most of Paramount’s successful films appeared on VOD a month after their theatrical debut. This was the case with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves and A Quiet Place: Day One.
Therefore, Gladiator 2 in the US may arrive on VOD around 24 December 2024, just before Christmas – which would be an excellent gift for many viewers.
However, the film’s release date on VOD in the UK may be different – previous releases have often been a little later than in America. We will let you know as soon as we know more about it.

When will Gladiator 2 be released on streaming?
After premiere on VOD, Paramount Pictures films usually go to the Paramount+ streaming service. It usually happens quickly – A Quiet Place: Day One appeared on the platform just 28 days after its release on VOD. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem took 18 days to make that journey, and Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves – only 14.
In the US, Gladiator 2 could air on Paramount+ around 7 January 2025 at the earliest – though it could be later.
Keep in mind that these dates are our predictions – Paramount hasn’t yet provided any information on the subject.
When will Gladiator 2 be released on DVD/Blu-ray?
Physical copies of Gladiator 2 will probably appear last. However, it’s hard to predict exactly when that might happen, as Paramount doesn’t have a clear pattern here.
A Quiet Place: Day One on DVD and Blu-ray came 42 days after its streaming debut. On the other hand, Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves hit store shelves just 2 weeks after appearing on Paramount+. The time window is wide – cautiously estimating, we expect physical copies of Gladiator 2 to go on sale in February 2025.
