Halloween is over, but it looks like many viewers are still craving spooky movies. Smile 2, the follow-up to Parker Finn’s unexpected 2022 hit, still reigns supreme at the box office, grossing $110 million worldwide as of the day of writing.
The sequel tells the story of some new characters, however, they’re stalked by the same dark entity as in the original Smile. The cinema is the best place to experience the film’s terrors, but if you’re curious when Smile 2 will hit home media, continue reading our article.
What’s curious is that Paramount released the film’s first seven minutes on the Smile 2 website. You can watch the video for free, although there’s a hook. To see the whole sequence, you’ll need to enable your camera and smile – if, at some point, you stop, the responsive technology will pause the clip.

In the US, you can buy Smile 2 tickets from AMC Theatres and Fandango. In the UK, you can secure your seats on Vue, Cineworld or Odeon websites.

How to watch Smile 2 on VOD
Paramount Pictures, which is distributing the horror, hasn’t revealed any dates for the digital premiere. However, based on the releases of other smash Paramount films, we estimate that Smile 2 may appear on digital within a month or month and a half.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem and Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves were released digitally just 31 days after their cinematic debuts. However, the sixth instalment of the Scream franchise premiered on VOD after a month and a half.
A recent Paramount horror blast, A Quiet Place: Day One, hit VOD after less than a month, while the animated Transformers One was available for purchase and rental within a month.
Therefore, Smile 2 may hit VOD around 19 November 2024 at the earliest – however, the release may also slip to early December 2024.
When could Smile 2 be released on streaming services?
There’s a good chance that Smile 2 will hit streaming soon after its release on VOD.
The previously mentioned Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem debuted on Paramount+ within 14 days and 18 days, respectively, since the VOD premiere. On the other hand, it took 28 days for A Quiet Place: Day One to become available for streaming.
So, it’s possible that Smile 2 will appear on streaming platforms as early as the first week of December 2024. In a worst-case scenario, the film will appear on Paramount+ in the second half of December 2024. Although Smile 2 isn’t exactly what you call a Christmas movie, given its popularity, Paramount may want to bring it to streaming before Christmas.

When will Smile 2 be released on DVD/Blu-ray?
Physical copies of the film are likely to appear last. However, it’s hard to say when this might happen, as it’s an individual issue with Paramount films.
A Quiet Place: Day One appeared on DVD and Blu-ray 42 days after releasing on streaming. Physical copies of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem came out 30 days after its premiere on streaming. However, physical copies of Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves came out just two weeks after its debut on Paramount+.
