Where to park, how to get to the Detroit Auto Show – MLive.com


DETROIT, MI – While the Detroit Auto Show will show off new vehicles, visitors will have to find a place for the own cars in the meantime.

The show kicks off Friday, Jan. 10, with a media day and charity preview. It will open to the general public on Jan. 11, at Huntington Place, 1 Washington Blvd. The internationally recognized vehicle showcase will run through Monday, Jan. 20.

Parking will be available through a variety of parking garages and lots throughout downtown Detroit, as well as at the convention center’s roof and its Washington Boulevard garage. These are available on a first-come, first-served basis with credit card only.

The auto show recommends booking parking in advance with the help of a parking reservations app, Spot Hero.

Spot Hero gives people a chance to secure their parking spots for Huntington Place in advance.

Drivers can go on the app and secure their spots for any day of the event. Reservations for the show’s first day open to the public range anywhere from $10 to $80 varying their distances away from the center. Check it out here.

Get around with the help of the Detroit People Mover

The People Mover is another way to travel throughout Detroit.

People who park away from the convention center can find the closest stop to the Detroit People Mover and hop on to get to the auto show. The People Mover travels to Huntington Place Station inside Huntington Place Detroit on the fourth floor near Congress Street.

Its services will open earlier at 8 a.m. on both Saturdays and Sundays of the auto show. Regular hours for the transportation service are 6:30 a.m. to midnight Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to midnight Saturday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday, according to its website.

QLINE

The QLINE is a free way to access the Woodward corridor and its establishments.

The QLINE street cars run from 8 a.m. to midnight Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Its 3.3-mile route runs on Woodward Avenue with 12 stops in neighborhoods like New Center, North End, Midtown and downtown Detroit. Learn more online.
