Will Your Samsung Galaxy Watch Be Getting One UI 6 Watch?

Smartphones are cool because of how much power they can put in our palms, but by that standard, smartwatches might be even cooler since they bring a lot of power, in compact form, to your wrist. With the right smartwatch, you can leave your phone at home or not need to reach into your pocket, yet get just as much done.

The secret to the power of a smartwatch is its software though, so it is incredibly important to have the latest software running on yours. The newest smartwatch OS for Samsung’s Galaxy Watch lineup—One UI 6 Watch, based on Wear OS 5—is now rolling out to older watches.

Here Are The Samsung Smartwatches That Will Be Getting Wear OS 5

Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 7 and Watch Ultra launched in July, right before the Olympics started, and they were the very first devices to usher Wear OS 5 into the world. The Galaxy Watch FE also launched at the same time, but that phone wasn’t considered premium enough to get the new software running on it out of the gate (likely because it was just a rebranded Galaxy Watch 4 at its core).

Anyway, after a long period of beta testing, the release version of One UI 6 Watch, based on Wear OS 5, is finally rolling out to some of the older Samsung Galaxy Watch models. In fact, it is actually rolling out to every single smartwatch that Samsung can get it on—every single Wear OS smartwatch that they’ve released. That means the following devices will be getting this update:

  • Galaxy Watch FE
  • Galaxy Watch 6 Classic
  • Galaxy Watch 6
  • Galaxy Watch 5 Pro
  • Galaxy Watch 5
  • Galaxy Watch 4 Classic
  • Galaxy Watch 4

Considering that’s the entire Wear OS-powered Samsung portfolio, there’s not a drop of criticism you can send the South Korean OEM’s way.

When Will Each Of These Smartwatches Get The Update?

The next question on your tongue is likely asking when the update for these smartwatches will come exactly.

The announcement came alongside the rollout of One UI 6 Watch to the Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, so those are already ticked off the list. The Galaxy Watch 5 duo will likely be next in line, and then the Galaxy Watch 4 models (including the Galaxy Watch FE) as the last in the set. However, no exact timeline has been provided for when.

I’d reckon that all of these devices should get their respective updates before the year ends though, so you won’t have too long to wait.

One UI 6 Watch will be able to do all the cool things that your Samsung Galaxy Watch has been able to do thus far, but it’s going to bring a little more magic to your wrist.

This is the year of Galaxy AI, and One UI 6 Watch is the first Samsung smartwatch OS with Galaxy AI built in. Samsung has leveraged that to provide advanced health and fitness tracking and insights. You also get new gestures, more in-depth battery options, and new watch faces.
