We’ve been looking for the new Dodge Charger Daytona in the wild and finally spotted it and man, it sure looks worse on the road. Since we spotted it heading into Atlanta, Georgia we think this might be the first time the thieves in the city won’t want to steal a Dodge Charger, which really is something.
Watch a cop smoking a cigar take a fleeing Dodge Charger down.
The version we saw was the EV and the fake engine noises can best be described as a car version of a laugh track. That might sound weird, but the “muscle” car also sounds bizarre, the fake engine noises are so obviously fake it gave us a bit of an uncanny valley response. That alone makes the thing off-putting.
But we weren’t prepared for just how plain and cheap looking the new Charger is when it’s not sitting under showroom lights. We’re talking Kia levels of bad. This is obviously the direct result of Stellantis management coming in and cutting corners, likely to save money after blowing a bundle on EV technology which is apparently failing miserably, to boot. What a disaster.
All the flair and fun which drew so many people to the Dodge brand over the past decade or so has just been wiped out as automotive executives in Europe have sucked the brand dry. We saw the writing on the wall and knew it was coming, but to come face-to-face with the reality and see just how bad it is really comes as a shock.
Welcome to the new Dodge, which apparently will be chasing after Tesla and losing on every metric instead of just playing its own game and winning the hearts of those who want to walk to the beat of a different drummer. The band has become a pathetic joke and we anticipate Ram as well as Jeep are on the same road.
Stellantis really has no idea what it’s doing.
