There are some games that were iconic but transient in this era of Android, but there are other games that have endured for several years and still remain very relevant to Android users. For instance, Angry Birds, Candy Crush, and Words With Friends.
Speaking of the latter, even if you haven’t played the popular word game for a very long time, it is still one of the most popular games in its segment for Android users, and now, by introducing new solo game modes, it might develop more of a hold on people. Let’s talk about the new ways to play.
Words With Friends Brings In New Solo Game Modes That You Might Already Be Familiar With
Words With Friends built up its popularity based on its multiplayer game mode, but the choice to play alone has never hurt anyone. The popular game, owned by Zynga, has decided to add a slew of new solo game modes so you can have a lot of fun, even when you’re alone.
I don’t think any of these game modes are particularly unique as they’ve been done before in one way or another, but that doesn’t make them any less fun, does it?
Mini Crosswords
The first game mode to talk about is Mini Crosswords. We all know how crossword puzzles work, but this is a mini version of that. It’s a lot more compact so it won’t take as long to solve, and the intended words aren’t New York Times-grade, so it’ll serve more as stress relief than stress. There’ll be a new puzzle every day, leaderboards, and other unique perks.
Word Wheel
I used to play a game called Wordscapes, which I think is rather popular on mobile devices, so you might have heard of it before. That’s literally what Word Wheel is. Again, that means it isn’t very original, but it is still fun.
Using a specific selection of letters, you’re tasked with finding as many words as possible using only those letters. You’ll certainly have a lot of fun with this game mode, and you’ll learn new words in the process, so there’s little not to like.
Word Search
Do I need to explain how a word search works? We’ve been doing them since we were kids, and Zynga brings that classic game to Words With Friends. You’ll get a new Word Search to jump into every day, each of which has a different theme. Plus, with 24 hours allocated for you to complete each puzzle, you don’t need to feel pressured to get it done.
Guess Word
I could try and explain the concept of Guess Word from scratch, but there’s one word that’ll immediately give you the gist of it, and that’s “Wordle”. Yep, this game is essentially Wordle, giving you six attempts to guess the secret word of the day.
Sure, you could just play Wordle, but if you’re big on Words With Friends already, then it surely doesn’t hurt having this mini-game conveniently placed in the same app.
