Think DeepSeek AI or ChatGPT are the biggest data hoarders? Think again.
According to Surfshark, Google Gemini takes the crown, collecting more user data than any other AI chatbot. While ChatGPT ranks sixth and DeepSeek lands in fifth place, Gemini is miles ahead in terms of how much data it collects.
Turning off chat history doesn’t necessarily stop Gemini collecting data either: it can still tap into your search history, location tracking, and device usage.
While DeepSeek gathers 11 types of data, including your chat history, and ChatGPT collects 10 types of data, but supports temporary chats and data-removal requests, Gemini collects a whopping 22 types of data.
Unlike many other AI chatbots, the data collected by Gemini includes your precise location data. Other types of data collected include your name, email address, phone number, user content, contacts, search history, and browsing history.
