Xiaomi 15 Ultra's first photo from a 200MP periscope camera looks impressive

Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun, has decided to share the very first photo taken with the Xiaomi 15 Ultra’s 200MP periscope telephoto camera. That upcoming flagship smartphone is getting a camera bump.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra’s first photo appears, and it’s from its 200MP periscope telephoto camera

The company’s CEO shared this image via Weibo, and you can check it out below. Do note that the image provided below has been compressed, but you can see it in its full size by clicking here.

It says in the info that the image has been taken by a 100mm camera with an f/2.6 lens. That points to the 200MP periscope telephoto camera which is heavily rumored to be included on the device. We just don’t know if it was taken in a 12MP mode (pixel binning), or not. It sure looks like it, though.

Based on what we know thus far, that 200MP camera will use the Samsung HP9 sensor. It will combine that with a 4.3x lens, which is likely what was used for the 100mm focal length we see here.

Its main camera will use a 1-inch type sensor

This will not be the only powerful camera on the phone, though. The device is also said to include a 50-megapixel main camera. That one will use Sony’s LYT-900 camera sensor, a 1-inch type sensor.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra will likely use a 50-megapixel telephoto camera (Sony’s IMX858 sensor, 3x optical zoom) too, and a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera (Samsung’s JN5 camera sensor). The periscope telephoto camera is the main upgrade this year, though.

We still don’t have the exact launch date for the device, but it’s said to launch both in China and globally in a span of a couple of days. That means that it will likely arrive as part of the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. That tradeshow is coming up in a couple of weeks.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite will also be a part of the package. The phone will also offer a large battery, extremely fast charging, and more.
