Battery technology is advancing rapidly, and one of the most exciting developments in recent years is the rise of silicon-carbon batteries.
These are allowing phone manufacturers to significantly increase battery capacities without making devices bulky.
Now Xiaomi appears poised to lead this trend with a new flagship phone expected to feature a massive 7,500mAh battery in 2025.

This comes from a Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station, who revealed plans for a Redmi device with this sizeable battery and indicated that Xiaomi is testing phones with even larger power capacities.
To be clear, this won’t be from the Xiaomi 15 series slated for a global launch soon. Instead, it’ll likely be a Xiaomi 16 phone which will likely make its debut in China later this year.
While rugged phones, with batteries exceeding 10,000mAh or even 20,000mAh, are already on the market, these devices are typically bulky and designed for niche use cases.
What Xiaomi is reportedly working on, however, are sleek and lightweight phones that integrate silicon-carbon batteries. These offer more capacity while maintaining a slim profile, ensuring the phones remain portable and easy to handle.

What’s more, Xiaomi has already begun integrating silicon-carbon batteries into mid-range devices like the Redmi Note 14 Pro 5G, signalling its commitment to bringing advanced battery technology to more users and paving the way for even larger capacities in flagship models.
Other Android manufacturers, such as Honor, Vivo, and Oppo, have also adopted silicon-carbon batteries. Apple and Samsung have yet to follow suit, though they could do so on the rumoured iPhone 17 Air and Galaxy S25 Slim.
However, Samsung is reportedly exploring the technology for future devices, so the Galaxy S26 series could be the first in the brand’s portfolio to feature these batteries.
