XPeng registered 92 electric vehicles in the Netherlands during January, official data showed on Monday. Registrations fell 16% from a year ago and dropped below 100 units for the first time since July 2024.
The Guangzhou-based carmaker expanded to Europe via Norway in late 2020 and started deliveries in the Netherlands two years later.
The brand partnered with vehicle distributor Emil Frey in 2022 to develop its sales and service network in the Netherlands and manage its stores.
Over the last few weeks, the company continued its European expansion and officially launched Belgium, Luxembourg, Ireland and Finland. XPeng said over the weekend that it delivered a total of 30,350 vehicles in January — a 268% increase from the same month last year.
The Mona M03 sedan, launched in August, delivered more than 15,000 units per month for two consecutive months, while the brand’s latest model XPeng P7+ surpassed 20,000 cumulative deliveries within its first two months on the market.
Tesla’s vehicle registrations fell 42% year-on-year to 927 units while Zeekr also saw declines, with registrations dropping 36% to 49. In contrast, BYD, Polestar, and Nio reported growth, registering 239, 117, and 14 vehicles, respectively.
New passenger car registrations in the Netherlands fell 4.6% year-on-year in January to 32,804 units, down from 34,392 a year ago. However, EV sales increased 28.2% to 11,157 units bringing the market share of fully electric cars to 34.0%, up from 25.4% in January 2024.
Hybrid vehicles led the market, accounting for 45.5% of all new registrations, with 14,934 units registered.
XPeng said earlier this week it has partnered with Swedish dealership chain Hedin Automotive to expand its sales network in Germany.
