YouTube has been actively testing out new features for some time now. Last week, several reports hinted that YouTube is testing AI-dubbed videos to make the platform suitable for users speaking different languages. Now, it seems YouTube is also aiming to bring creators much closer to you as it officially notes testing a voice replies feature.
YouTube is testing a new feature that allows creators to leave a voice reply to comments
Have you ever thought of hearing your favorite creator reply to your comments? Well, chances are that it might happen soon. YouTube is testing a new feature that will let creators add a reply to comments using their voice. In the official community thread, YouTube says it hopes that this test “enables more meaningful relationships between creators and their audiences.”
YouTube creators in the test group should first click the sound wave icon when responding to a comment. Next, they’ll need to record a voice reply, and then post it as a comment. It’s worth noting that anyone can interact with the creators’ voice replies as with comments currently. The creators can add voice replies to comments on their videos using the iOS version of the app for now.
Folks over at The Verge reportedly could hear the voice reply from YouTuber ThioJoe on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pixel 6 phones. But, there was no option to listen to the same in a web browser on my Mac. We were also able to hear the voice reply from the same video on the POCO X6 Pro, but not on our PC. So, it’s safe to say that there’s some sort of limitation on where these voice replies could be played now.
The feature might be available for every creator down the line
YouTube says that it’ll gather feedback in the experiment phase. If the feedback turns out to be positive, it might open the feature for every creator. Besides testing new features, YouTube is also pushing new features to the masses. More recently, the video streaming giant started rolling out granular custom playback playback speed controls.
